The Directorate’s (DOSHS) main mandate is to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007 that seeks to promote safety and health at the workplace. It also ensures compliance with the provisions of the Act Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007 through prompt compensation of employers against work related injuries.
DOSHS headquarters are at Safety House, along Commercial Street in Nairobi's Industrial Area with 30 offices in 29 Counties. These County offices are in Nairobi, Bungoma, Embu, Garissa, Homabay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kilifi, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Kisumu, Kwale, Laikipia, Machakos, Meru, Mombasa, Murang'a, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Trans Zoia, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga and Naivasha sub-county office.
